St Mary's Hospice was happy to hold its first ever Sportsman's Dinner and Fundraising Auction on Friday 11th April 2008 at the Nines, Dalkeith Street, Barrow.

Guest speaker for the evening was Alex Stepney. Alex played for Millwall and Chelsea before joining Manchester United in a career that spanned almost 15 years. He was Manchester United's first choice goal keeper for 10 years, during in which time he won international recognition with England and of course a European Cup Final Winners Medal with United.

He was supported on the night by well known comedian Lester Crabtree and MC Denis Horan.

The event raised £3195 for St Mary's Hospice and we would like to thank everyone who attended and gave so generously.
