Light up a Life - Media Opportunities
We are seeking media volunteers/case studies for this year's Light up a Life campaign in order to help us achieve media coverage which highlights the importance of the event and of hospice care.
Volunteers should be close relatives or friends of former patients who would be willing to help all hospices (and promote St. Mary's Hospice) by telling their story in interviews and photographs for national magazines/newspapers, or on TV or radio in connection with Light up a Life. Volunteers need to be comfortable about being identified and photographed and should have lots to say about the ways St. Mary's Hospice helped them and their loved one, as well as being comfortable taking about their loss and experience of bereavement. Volunteers should have been bereaved within the last two years but not so recently that they aren't ready to talk about it. Ideally they should be familiar with the concept of Light up a Life.
All potential volunteers will be treated with the utmost sensitivity and any media opportunity explained to them carefully. No one would be under any obligation to do interviews for any particular publications/media outlets unless they were happy it was something they wanted to do. Sharing a very personal story isn't something for everyone but for some people it can be a positive experience by way of giving something back and sharing something important and profound.
