St Mary's Hospice is an independent, charitable, voluntary body funded mainly by the generosity of the community for the community. Founded in 1989 by public subscription, the hospice provides specialist medical nursing and care to people from South Lakeland and Furness suffering from serious progressive illnesses. The hospice building is a late Victorian house with an added extension, set in tranquil and beautiful gardens.
Our philosophy of care, delivered through our range of specialist services, is designed to meet the needs of individual patients and enhance their quality of life. Our services include specialised medical and nursing facilities provided within a purpose built 8 bedded In-patient Unit; operating a ‘Day Care’ service two days a week; Physiotherapy and Complementary Therapy services; Drop-in centres; a Palliative Care Outreach Team, etc. For the full range of services follow the quick link. Bring a £ to Work Day
7th - 11th July 2008
This year, as part of our annual Sunflower Campaign, St Mary's Hospice would like as many local organisations as possible to join us by taking part in our first ever 'Bring a £ to Work Day.' We are asking everyone within the local area to ask their organisation to register, and then for individuals to take one pound to work on their designated day between the 7th and 11th July to help raise funds for their local hospice.
